WHAT IS CHUU SEKAI?
Chuu Sekai is a blog devoted to AKB48 member Kasai Tomomi. It was developed as a place where I could post my English translations of Kasai’s Japanese blog entries, and also a place where I could share various other forms of Kasai related media (such as videos and pictures). Chuu Sekai was created on May 31st 2008, the opening day for Team K’s 4th stage: Saishuu bell ga naru
As of July 2009, I’ve started to use Chuu Sekai as a personal blog as well as a translation blog.
WHY “CHUU SEKAI”?
I decided to name this place because ‘Chuu’ (チュウ) is an example of Japanese onomatopoeia and denotes the sound of a kiss. ‘Sekai’ (世界) in Japanese literally means ‘the world’, therefore ‘Chuu sekai’ roughly translates to ‘Chuu world’. I think the cuteness of the word ‘chuu’ fits Kasai’s image perfectly. Kasai also coined a similar word ‘Chiyuu’ (チユウ) that she says often, but she’s stated that it doesn’t really have a meaning. OK to be honest initially I thought she said ‘chuu’ which is how I got the name for this place, when I found out what she really said I just couldn’t be bothered to change everything lol.
I created this place because I am a massive fan of Kasai’s, and I would like nothing more than to help promote her to the rest of the world. Translating her blog entries also helps to improve my Japanese, no matter how informal her entries may be.
CATEGORIES
Currently this website has 5 categories and a number of subcategories. All posts in the FC Blog and XANADU Blog categories are English translations of Kasai Tomomi’s original Japanese blog entries. However the comments in green are not from Kasai’s blog, and I put them there to aid the reader. All posts in the Tomo~media category are my own, and ARE NOT translations of Kasai’s entries, but are related to her in some way. The Chuu~shot category contains translations from other AKB48 member blogs. The Other category and all subcategories contain posts that aren’t related to Kasai in particular.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
-The blog entries under the ‘FC blog’ category are from the official AKB48 fan club website, and are originally only available to members of the AKB48 fan club. Because of this I’d appreciate it if you DO NOT post any blog translations or blog pictures that you find on Chuu Sekai on any other websites other than Stage48.
-The dates underneath each entry are the dates of when Kasai posted the ORIGINAL entry on her blogs. NOT the dates of when I posted them on this website. However the Tomo~media posts have inaccurate dates for different reasons.
